Minister of Housing (Kulanu) Yoav Gallant, a retired IDF major-general, expressed his feelings regarding reports of Egyptian intervention towards mediating a meaningful ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. Gallant explained that too much credibility was placed on the reports from Gaza, providing Israelis with a reality check, as he said any agreement, assuming one is even reached, with be “limited in scope” at the very best.
Reports out of Gaza point to incredible Egyptian efforts that are leading to a major breakthrough, one that may result in Israel’s willingness to partially end the IDF Navy’s blockade of the waters leading to Gaza. Gallant put it in simple terms, that the chances of a comprehensive agreement being reached are slim.
In the meantime, incendiary kites and balloon bombs from Gaza into southern Israel continue, as do shooting attacks against soldiers.
