Israel’s Consul General to New York City, Dani Dayan, who is currently back home visiting, went up to Har Habayis with his wife and daughter on Monday, 25 Menachem Av. His daughter, Ofir, is a Har Habayis activist.
Dayan made the visit as an act towards strengthening Israel sovereignty over the holy site. This is the result of visits that are political in nature, resulting in elected officials who appear to lack the halachic significance of the site making visits, albeit with good intentions, but in gross violation of Gedolei Yisrael.
It should be noted that Gedolei Yisrael throughout the generations along with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, have prohibited visiting Har Habayis as there is an Issur Kares.

Too bad he hasn’t heard about the ban about going up on Har HaBayis. Too bad all the other confused souls who go up there haven’t heard about it either in their yeshivos.
