Meah Shearim Resident Arrested for Removing Flyers from Mail Boxes

Police on Sunday, 24 Menachem Av, arrested a Meah Shearim resident who was collecting flyers left in mail boxes in neighboring Geula, flyers advertising academic studies in a chareidi framework.

The man arrested is described as “an extremist” and he walked around with his cart and systematically removed the adverts from all the mail boxes. Persons who paid to have the adverts distributed were surprised to see they disappeared almost immediately after being distributed. The Meah Shearim resident found the adverts objectionable because they offered academic studies tailored for the chareidi community.

The distributer of the flyers called police for assistance and he was promptly arrested. A number of residents protested the arrest.
