Following the transcripts leaked out of the Degel Hatorah board meeting, there is significant anger among party leaders, who wish to know the source of the leak to the press.

BeChadrei Chareidim reports that some of the participants in the meeting approached Degel Hatorah MKs, demanding an internal check to find the identity of the leak. A senior member of the party who participated in the closed meeting is quoted telling BeChadrei that, “Now everyone in the meeting is viewed with suspicion as being the source of the leak and I am calling for a probe to remove the cloud from us.”

Another senior party official, who was also in attendance, told BeChadrei, “The person who leaked the recording and the transcripts is a criminal. I do not think there is any damage from the content, but rather from the recordings,” which he said would “harm the continuation of Degel’s activity because they would have difficulty holding discussions in the future for fear they are being recorded”.

Degel officials on Monday, 18 Menachem Av, presented articles from websites published during the meeting itself, raising the concern that the leaker is not one of the participants of the conference itself, but one of the people outside the glass door where they gathered.

The meeting was attended by MK Moshe Gafni, who attacked Agudas Israel’s conduct regarding the Draft Law negotiations, and the chareidi deal that led to chareidi support for Nationality Law.

Meanwhile, Rabbi Mordechai Blau said in an interview with Moshe Glasner on Kol Berama Radio on Monday night “there was no recording device in the room of Degel Hatorah’s executive board.” He said that “someone behind the door was the one who recorded and leaked to the media”, pointing a finger at one of the assistants who was not present in the room, which included only members of the board.
