The original Christians were Jews. So, should we “join them” in their celebrations for the sake of some type of “unity” of mankind? “Joining” them is “following” them, even if you want to split hairs and say, “but it’s not necessarily obeying them.” “Following” the ignorant atheists is also a serious error. I never heard of any Gadol BaTorah proposing or supporting such an idea. If you are still bothered by this, I’ll recommend my usual solution. Get on a plane to EY, visit Reb Chaim Kanievsky or any other gadol, and try to persuade them to adopt your ideas. If they’ll agree with you, the Chareidi tzibbur also will.
