Regavim encourages residents of Arab and Bedouin communities who suffer from weapons offenses in the sector and are afraid to complain to the police, to file a complaint with the police discreetly, while receiving legal support. The requests will be received via an “informer” the Facebook page “Stop the shooting” in Arabic and Hebrew.

The weapons offenses in the Arab sector are periodically raised in the media discourse, but it seems that there is no one to systematically deal with the problem, which is widespread.

A series of videos from the south of the country were seen, in which masked men were shooting in the air from automatic weapons in Beersheva and in the communities of Segev Shalom and Rahat.

After the shooting, a letter from a resident of Rahat landed in the messages box on the Regavim’s Facebook page, which contained an uncensored version of one of the videos, in which a vehicle’s license plate was clearly visible, asking the organization to file a complaint with the police.

The residents of the Arab and Bedouin communities suffer from the dangerous phenomenon of shooting in the streets carried out by local criminals and are afraid to send the details of the criminals to the police for fear of harassment.

Regavim is meeting the challenge, and now offers residents to submit a complaint to the police in a discreet manner, while receiving free legal support. The reference will be made through the Facebook page “Stop the Shooting” which was initiated by the Regavim movement in Arabic.

“Enforcement in the Arab sector is a difficult and painful problem that affects mainly the members of the sector itself, but the Arab MKs choose to repeatedly point a finger of blame exclusively at Israel Police and the State of Israel,” the Regavim movement said.

“The leaders of the Arab public are required to show real leadership, not just talk and blame, but also take action and show real responsibility, and we will provide free legal accompaniment to anyone who wishes to file a discreet complaint with the police”, Regavim officials add.
