Following the IDF’s situation assessment meeting that took place last night, it was decided on Sunday to establish one of the IDF’s Iron Dome batteries in the center of the country to protect the Dan region from a possible rocket or missile attack from Gaza.
The IDF also announced that it had issued a conscription order for reservists on a pin-pointed basis in an effort to add extra manpower to the Israeli Air Force and the other air-defense units of the IDF.
The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit issued a statement which said: “The IDF is steadfast in our mission to defend Israel and its citizens. We are prepared for a wide variety of scenarios and our preparations will continue to gain momentum as the situation assessment and operational needs change.”
IDF planes have attacked Palestinians launching kite and balloon bombs for the third time on Sunday. This has been a change in tactics, as until Shabbos, the IAF was only given the leeway to fire warning shots near terrorists launching such devices. Following the barrage of rockets from Hamas on Saturday, the IDF has finally changed its tactics and is directing its fire towards those caught launching the incendiary devices that have caused millions in damage to thousands of acres of Israeli farmland and forests.
“The IDF views the launching of kite and balloon bombs at Israel in the most stringent manner. We will continue to respond in inceasing severity to this terror campaign.” the statement concluded.
