Hundreds gathered on Saturday to participate in a memorial race in honor of First Sergeant Hail Stawi, a Border Policemen killed last year in a terrorist attack on Har Habayis.

On July 14, 2017, three terrorists from the Israeli city of Um al-Fahm open fired on a group of Border Policemen assigned to Har Habayis, killing Stawi and fellow policeman Kamil Shnaan.

Stawi’s family decided to honor Hail’s memory by holding an annual race, The Ramos Race, named after Hail’s son who was only three weeks old at the time of the attack.

The event was held in the Druse village of Maghar where Stawi lived, and concluded with talks from Hail’s father, Afif Stawi, and Shakib Shnaan, the father of Kamil Shnaan.

Among the hundreds of participants were activists from the Zionist organization Im Tirtzu, who presented Stawi’s father with a jersey signed by Spanish soccer star Sergio Ramos, whom Hail admired and named his son after.

Im Tirtzu contacted Ramos’ team, Real Madrid C.F., who sent the signed jersey along with an engraved plaque of the team’s stadium bearing the words, “In memory of Hail.”
