Minister Puts Forward A Bill Against Firing One’s Weapon Without Justification

Minister of Public Security Gilad Erdan is proposing a bill outlawing the firing of a firearm if doing so endangers human life. Violating the law may be punishable with up to five years in prison while just ‘threatening’ someone is punishable with up to two years imprisonment.

The bill has been approved by the ministerial committee, and heads to Knesset for second and third votes.

Erdan feels law enforcement agencies lack the proper tools to address this and the courts are too lenient.
