WARNING: Heat Wave Heading To Tri-State Area

Surging heat and humidity will create a heat wave across the Tri-State area, which is forecast to be at its peak this weekend into early next week.

The heat wave will begin on Friday, as highs hit 90 degrees under sunny to partly cloudy skies. The humidity won’t be too high on Friday, but it will increase as we head into the weekend.

Heat advisories are already in effect for parts of the area.

Saturday and Sunday will be hot and humid with highs in the low 90s on both days, but the humidity will make it feel more like 100 degrees at times.

“Stay cool and stay hydrated during the extreme heat we’re expecting in the coming days,” said New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Joseph Esposito. “You can also help others to beat the heat by checking on your neighbors, especially if they are seniors, young children, and people with disabilities and access and functional needs.”

If you plan on spending time outdoors, such as at the beach, pool or ballpark, should remember to use sunscreen.

Temperatures are expected to remain above 90 through the Fourth of July and possibly into next weekend.

  1. A rediculius article for YWN and its population of readers. What if many of us don’t stay hydrated on Sunday (fast day)? No advice. Ridiculous!
