The new Bedouin MK on the Ra’am-Ta’al list, Talab Abu Arar will have to make an important decision, one that is likely to seriously impact his shalom bayis issues. While he has two wives he has already been informed that only one of them may accompany him to the 19th Knesset swearing-in ceremony. Not really finding a way out of his dilemma, the new MK announced to the media on Sunday, 16 Shevat 5773 that in order to avoid machlokes at home, he is not bringing any of his wives to the event.
The new MK is an attorney, and has a long history in education, as well as serving as the deputy head of his regional council. He has two wives. His first wife is mother to their 10 children and his second wife, 22 years his junior, is mother to his 1-year-old.
Ra’am-Ta’al officials’ report that the MK is not in violation of state law since his first wife is registered as his wife while the second is officially just a companion.
Arar told Maariv that he is married to one wife and the second woman in quite busy, too busy for the likes of him.
