Dov Hikind To Spend Purim In Sderot

hikind211.jpgHamas & Hezbollah have declared war on 20,000 men, women and children with 7,800 Kassams, rockets & mortars

“The people of Sderot have 9 seconds to find reinforced shelter when a rocket is launched. One child is in a bedroom studying, another is playing outside, the youngest is in his crib. What would you do?”

“It is inconceivable that a sovereign nation tolerates the 24/7 siege and attack of its citizens since 2001. For seven years, the ‘red alert’ warning siren has sounded more than 10,000 times in Sderot,” Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) stated. “If children are not safe in Sderot, then they are not safe in Jerusalem as was evidenced with the tragic murder of eight yeshiva students on Thursday.” Hikind will join the residents of Sderot for a three-day, three-night solidarity mission beginning March 20th for the holiday of Purim. Hikind will distribute, Mishloach Manot, traditional packages of holiday fare, to the 20,000 residents, and will host a Purim party for all the children of Sderot.

“Sderot residents tell of Kassams which have ripped massive holes in roofs, landing inches from a child’s high chair, and a child whose leg was amputated because of shrapnel wounds. Reinforcing homes to withstand rocket attack remains prohibitively expensive for most inhabitants. And now Hamas and Hezbollah, armed by Iran and Syria, are targeting the 100,000 residents of Ashkelon too. The residents of Sderot have been left defenseless by the terrifying salvos. This is a war against mothers and children, a war to put terror into the hearts and minds of toddlers. The siren goes off, and parents have less than a fraction of a second to pull as many of their children as they can to safety. What would you do?

“Besieged residents can not see an end to the trauma and tragedy. In fact, Hamas and Hezbollah have identified 100,000 new targets in Ashkelon, expanding their trajectory of pain and suffering. Ashkelon’s power plants are particularly vulnerable to rocket and mortar attacks. Devastatingly advanced weaponry smuggled from Iran and Syria, in addition to the Kassams, are at Hamas and Hezbollah’s disposal.

“The residents must see that they are not alone in this war that has been forced on them by Hamas and Hezbollah. For three days and three nights, I will walk with them on Sderot’s streets, escort children to school as they do, sleep as they do, always waiting for the red alert to sound its wailing call to vigilance and safety. Where to go? Where to run? Wherever and however Sderot’s residents manage to make it through their day, I will too. They must not be alone in their time of need. Hamas, Hezbollah, Syria and Iran will not win this battle.”

  1. I am glad he said what he did. But, it would be nice if the American government would back up his words. But, they won’t.

  2. BUBBY
who cares is the US backs him up or not? Individuals are the ones to change the river flow, we can do it each and every one of us with love for each other, reach out in goodness, care and respect.

  3. Truly a noble gesture, but I tend to wonder if Feif Un is correct in comment #5.

As Mr. Hikind said, “It is inconceivable that a sovereign nation tolerates the 24/7 siege and attack of its citizens since 2001. For seven years, the ‘red alert’ warning siren has sounded more than 10,000 times in Sderot…”

Kochi ViOtzem Yadi Asa Li Eis HaChayil HaZeh – this is what the Zionists are impotent against, despite all their American money and weaponry.
