Is Likud Stabbing Elkin In The Back Regarding Jerusalem Mayoral Race?

The Jerusalem branch of the Likud party is challenging the candidacy of Minister Ze’ev Elkin as being the party’s candidate in the Jerusalem mayoral race.

The local branch of Likud sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu stating, “We oppose the understanding of a candidate who sees Jerusalem as a springboard for the next job and that his perception of the city’s borders do not conform to Likud principles”.

KAN News reports that the local Likud officials are challenging Elkin, who they feel has proclaimed himself the party’s candidate without coordinating the move with party officials. The letter is signed by local party leadership.

The report adds that Elkin plans to form his own list, without involving the local chapter and without committing to the local party list. The local officials fear this may result in two lists and much confusion.

They are calling on PM Netanyahu to become involved in his capacity as the leader of the party.

  1. We just get Jerusalem back as our Capital, not without a lot of complains an trouble from the Arabs,
and now Ze’ev Elkin is ready to invite an Arab to share the office of the City of Jerusalem?!?!
I prefer another candidat who can solve problems, not creating them in advance.
