Five major trade unions in Spain recently announced their support for the anti-Israel BDS movement. The unions are located in the Galicia region. According to the endorsers of the measure, the “Palestinian struggle for justice” has become the “greatest issue of our time.”

They add that the “brutal siege on Gaza represents…the most critical and urgent of all Israeli injustices against the Palestinian people in the form of endless violations of human rights and international humanitarian law.” Apart from promising not to cooperate with the Israeli “apartheid” policy, the measure includes a commitment by the unions to denounce Spanish companies that continue to “cooperate [with] or legitimize” the Jewish state. The unions’ manifesto also calls for the ending of Israel’s counter-terrorist measures, the dismantling of the security barrier and the lifting of the Gaza naval blockade.
