Netanyahu-Lapid Coalition Government in the Works

Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid announced he will not work to form a centrist/left-wing bloc against Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu. At present, it is too soon to know if the new coalition will be built with the secular parties or with the inclusion of the chareidim.

Speaking from outside his Tel Aviv home on Wednesday night 12 Shevat 5773, Lapid stated, “I will not become a fig leaf for MK Hanin Zoabi”, stating clearly the left-winger’s dream that he will use his party’s 19 votes to block Netanyahu will have to remain a dream.

Lapid added “After hearing the prime minister’s words after the elections, I am happy to see that we are on the same track.”

It is likely that Lapid will become the senior coalition partner and as such, the prime minister will try to close a deal with Yesh Atid before entering into talks with the other parties.

  2. Important to hear exactly what LAPID’s post-election desires are. What is his foreign policy? What does ‘share the burden’ mean in reality? Election slogans are one thing and tachlis is next.
