About a 35 member contingent of the Women of the Wall (WoW) arrived at the Kosel on Thursday morning, 2 Rosh Chodesh Tammuz, creating a provocation despite the regulations announced by Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit.
The group made their way into the Ezras Nashim, depsite being instructed not to do this, and it immediately led to a confrontation with Orthodox mispallelim.
AG Mandelblit had prohibited WoW from holding their Rosh Chodesh service at the Kosel, insisting they use the alternate site allocated to them known as Robinson’s Arch.
WoW stated: “We refuse to enter that enclosure, which was presented as if it were meant to protect us, because it became a tool to protect the position of the Rabbi of the Kosel and to humiliate us. We have a right to daven as all women do”.
Kotel Heritage Foundation officials add, “Despite the foundation’s effort and that of police, to divide between groups, they chose to assimilate among the Orthodox women, and thus created a fuss and a controversy, contrary to the directives of the Ministry of Justice.
In their words, “Senior Ministry of Justice representatives were also present at the Kosel Plaza this morning to closely monitor the events at the Kosel and they saw a blatant violation of the laws and directives by WoW after a day previously, they received an additional warning from the deputy attorney general on the intention to take administrative measures If WoW violates the guidelines.”

The Liba Center, an organizer of monthly tefilos for girls at the Kosel released a statement, “Once again it has been proven the affront to the Kosel and mispallalim must come to an end. As we have warned in the past, the Minister of Religious Services and police must arrange and activate law enforcement system in order to stop the constant provocations of WoW at the Kosel.

These women-of-the-wall-nuts are just troublemakers and should be arrested for breaking the law. They pervert Yiddishkeit as much as the Reform and Conservative phonies do.
Arrest them in their beds.
During parasha of korach, how fitting. May they all get swallowed by the earth
the Women off the Wall said, “We have a right to daven as all women do”.
so daven as women do, in tznius, with kavana, with their heart to HaShem and with a desire to do His mitzvos. Not like a carnival of apes trying to get the press’s attention for acting weird, causing disruptions and caring nothing for any thing holy.
Maybe instead of these women fighting an enemy that doesn’t exist they should sit down and discuss with leading Rabbinical leaders requesting explanation of a woman’s role in Judaism and how it does not treat them as inferiors to men. They, unfortunately (due to their upbringing in gentile circles), have preconceived notions about Torah Judaism.
Comment for those women from that group that may be reading this:
Turn around and walk up the hill. There’s a Yeshiva up there called Aish HaTorah. There all your questions (assuming you’re looking for answers) can be answered. Go ahead. They don’t bite.
I have a business associate who is affiliated with this group. The founders may have been sincere, and some of the women who attend even today are sincere, but the controversy is very much part of the motivation. The more that people are outraged and the more abuse they take, the more they are fired up to continue.
