Israel Takes Another Step To Prevent 9/11 Style Attacks

9-11.jpgMany have forgotten the 9/11 events, but Israeli authorities still haven’t – and a company by the name of Elbit has developed a new system to maintain security on Israeli airspace.

Israel’s Ministry of Transport announced last week the commencement of a pilot program which can identify civil aircraft willing to enter Israel’s airspace as well as pilots under terrorists threats. Several international airlines, including US, Canadian, British, French and Ethiopian, took part in the pilot program which began last week and will end at the beginning of April.

In order to have an effective control over the new system the Security Department of the Ministry of Transport announced the establishment of a new Aviation Security Operation Center (ASOC). The ASOC serves as the command, control, communication and coordination point for the Ministry of Transport to gather information, gain awareness, and exercise control over the security procedures for the arrival of aircraft into and through Israeli airspace.

The ASOC functions as a 24/7 watch, employing a cadre of well trained and experienced operation officers who operate and maintain comprehensive watch capability in addition to processing all types of security permit applications for arrival of aircraft into and through Israeli airspace.
