The IDF confirmed that shots had been fired into the Gaza Strip following the launching of explosive balloons meant to injured Israelis or destroy farms or forested areas.

Earlier, the IDF had denied these same allegations. The IDF refuted the story and said it cannot be published and was censored. A few hours later they allowed its publication and confirmed the incident.

Israel fired three small range rockets at the exact point where the balloons were launched from over that. The balloons were launched at 2:00 pm, 7:00 p.m. and then again just after 7:30 p.m.
