A police operation in which an undercover policeman was deployed prevented the distribution of hundreds of thousands of shekels in counterfeit banknotes. Seven suspects were arrested, and the equipment used to counterfeit the notes was seized.
During a number of transactions carried out in the Jerusalem area by the police agent and the suspect, the agent managed to purchase hundreds of thousands of shekels from the suspect in forged bills, for several thousand shekels.
During the last transaction, which took place on Thursday, 17 Sivan, the police agent purchased about NIS 150,000 in forged banknotes from the suspect, and when the signal was given, police arrested the suspect.
The couple in custody are in their 20s, and they are accused of circulating NSI 50, NIS 100 and NIS 200 counterfeit banknotes. Five others were also arrested.
