Poll: Quinn Leads NYC Democratic Mayoral Pack


A new poll finds New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn has a big lead in a Democratic primary for mayor.

The Quinnipiac University poll shows Quinn could get 35 percent of the vote.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio has 11 percent. He’s followed by 10 percent for former City Comptroller William Thompson and 9 percent for Comptroller John Liu.

Former MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota leads among Republicans, with 23 percent.

The biggest share goes to undecided, with 53 percent.

Lhota is followed by businessman John Catsimatidis, with 9 percent.

Quinnipiac surveyed 1,332 New York City voters Jan. 8 to 14. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.7 (2-point-7) percentage points.
