The Brooklyn Public Library is making itself more user-friendly while also taking a step into the future.
With the help of a $3.25 million grant by Brooklyn native Shelby White, the library now features a 36-seat wireless learning lab, desktop computers, private meeting rooms and a recording studio. The space is known as the Shelby White and Leon Levy Information Commons.
Linda Johnson, president of the Brooklyn Public Library, says some branches may close as they may not be suited to emerging technology.
As of now, no immediate closures are in the works. In fact, a study by the Center for an Urban Future revealed that the Brooklyn Central and Kings Highway branches experienced higher patron usage in 2011 than did libraries in 12 other cities.

libraries are still very dangerous for the neshama. i would suggest that frum families get rid of their dvd players because of all the non kosher dvds aavailable at the library that kids are sneaking into the house.
