With more than two hundred participants – from all over Israel – United Hatzalah’s two day 2013 convention has ended successfully. The event was a chance for the non-profit volunteer-based organization’s dedicated volunteers to meet up and discuss their experiences and issues – and to hear how “the headquarters” evaluated this past year.
United Hatzalah has gained hundreds of new volunteers in this past year – and the organization that started with 350 medics has now 2000 medics, paramedics and medical doctors among its volunteers, spread all around Israel, ready to help every hour of the day, every day of the week.
The convention had some illustrious guests – like the Director General of the Health Ministry, Prof. Ronni Gamzu, Aryeh Deri from Shas, and Yitzhak Aharonovich from Yisrael Beitenu, Yair Lapid from new party Yesh Atid, and the chairman of the Financial Committee, MK Moshe Gafni.
The participants from various political backgrounds all showed up in support of United Hatzalah. Aryeh Deri assured United Hatzalah that in light of the recent discussions about the enlisting of young Haredim in the army United Hatzalah will serve as a good example, since it implements voluntary service, reaching out to various sectors of society, representing the people of Israel.
Professor Gamzu assured United Hatzalah that rescue organizations will stay under the authority of the Health Ministry and will not be passed on to the Public Security Ministry. “This is the natural place for it,” Gamzu said.
MK Moshe Gafni from Degel HaTorah promised Hatzalah on the other hand that he will regulate the status of United Hatzalah vis-à-vis MDA, which is today not possible due to different political interests.
