Yesh Atid party chairman MK Yair Lapid spoke out on Tuesday morning, Rosh Chodesh Sivan, regarding the violence along the Gaza border on Monday, which Hamas reports led to 59 deaths and over 1,200 injured.
Lapid said, “We must deal with the humanitarian crisis that exists in Gaza”. He is calling for a policy of rehabilitation in exchange for laying down of arms. He added the first rule of war is to separate between the organization and the civilian population.
“When I was in the cabinet, I called for a demilitarization in exchange for rehabilitation,” Lapid said in an interview with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio).
In addition, he expressed his satisfaction with the response of the security forces to the violent riots. “Yesterday it was proven that the IDF is the most moral army in the world,” Lapid concluded.
