Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri is seeking to prevent Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s initiative to reduce the threshold for entering Knesset, which is currently at four seats.
According to the report in the news, Netanyahu is concerned that the rise of the Likud will rise at the expense of right-wing parties that will not pass the threshold and find himself the largest party in Israel but without a coalition majority.
Netanyahu will ask heads of coalition parties for their backing for the move but Shas chairman Aryeh Deri will once again try to block it. His fear is by lowering the minimum threshold, Eli Yisrael and his Yachad party will get into Knesset. Recent polls show Shas at the edge of entering but Yachad repeatedly fails to gain the required number of seats.

Incorrect. The Knesset threshold is at 3.25%, which is equivalent to 3.9 seats. A party can potentially get into the Knesset with only three seats if it hits that narrow range between 3.9 and 4.
