Machane Tzioni party leader Avi Gabbai accuses Mr. Netanyahu of “trying to turn Israel into Turkey” with his announced backing of the Override Clause, the bill that will empower Knesset to overturn a High Court of Justice ruling disqualifying a Knesset law.
In his interview with Ynet, Gabbai accuses the Prime Minister of doing anything and everything to extend his tenure in office, warning against the bill.
Seeing things drastically different that Gabbai, Bayit Yehudi party officials, who are pushing the initiative, feel the law would simply create a balance between the Knesset and the High Court, nothing more. They explain the current situation in which the High Court disqualifies laws passed in Knesset is problematic.
