Dr. Aliza Lavi Wishes to Pull Israel Prize from Efrat Organization

Dr. Aliza Lavi is number seven on the Yesh Atid list, the party headed by Yair Lapid. She feels that that Israel Prize should not be awarded to the Efrat organization, referring to the organization founded in 1977, headed by Dr. Eli J. Schussheim , an organization that reports to date saving 50,000 Jewish lives.

Efrat works to dissuade pregnant mothers from having abortions, working to provide medical and financial assistance towards saving the lives of unborn children. Dr. Lavi however feels “no one has the right” to seek to control the “private womb” of a woman. She rejects what she views as Efrat’s ongoing effort to place the weight of the nation on the womb of a woman, which is totally a private matter, and she feels that Efrat is not a non-profit organization, but a commercial business in every sense of the word.

She is concerned over the fact that Efrat does not have women among the senior directorate of the organization, and “the organization is run by men seeking to control the wombs of women”.

Lavi points out that there are extenuating circumstances at times, and there is a special Health Ministry committee that addresses this issue, and it is not for Efrat to seek to continue to control women’s wombs and the organization should certainly not be recognized for its work.

  1. I wish people like Lavi would be honest and state their real reasons for wanting abortions left an option. In her case there are most certainly 3.
    1) She needs to have some issue to decry if she wants to raise her status in her political party.
    2) She doesn’t want babies to interfere with a career (my guess is that she sacrificed a family for a career and probably feels guilty about it deep down).
    3) The 3rd answer is not appropriate to state about someone, so let’s just say it this way, “there may be skeletons in her closet”. 🙁
