Hundreds of bus drivers employed as drivers on public buses are threatening to strike on Lag B’Omer. They explain that their contract demands a refreshing station between runs, and no such station is being set up for Lag B’Omer despite the pressures of the day.
Kol Berama Radio reported that hundreds of drivers are threatening to strike if their demands are not met. It appears some 300 drivers are willing to walk off the job, and these are drivers scheduled to make trips to and from Meron. The effort on behalf of the drivers is being led by driver Yonatan Krisfen, a spokesman for the union representing the drivers.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Transportation insists there has been a station established at Megiddo Junction to permit drivers to refresh themselves. It is explained drivers are instructed to travel to Meron via Route 65, permitting them to avail themselves of the station in the Alonit Station on their route.
