Members of a number of elite IDF and border police units operating undercover in the PA (Palestinian Authority) village of Tamoun near Jenin were detected in mid-operation on Tuesday, 19 Teves 5773. The soldiers were disguised as vegetable vendors as they made their way through the area looking for suspects marked for arrest.

The situation deteriorated rapidly and the commander radioed for back up, which arrived in a timely fashion. Hundreds of Arabs came out and began attacking the soldiers who were compelled to use teargas and rubber coated bullets to distance the mob.

At the end of the mayhem, three soldiers sustained light injuries and according to PA sources, at least 40 people were injured as a result of the teargas and rubber coated bullets.
