Israel Police have increased the number of points one receives on one’s drivers license for a number of violations of vehicular law. The following News 2 video explains:
· Driving without a license: was 8 points and is now 10
· Refusing a breathalyzer test was 8 points and is now 10
· Irresponsible driving was 6 points and is now 8
· Not having a proper safety seat was 6 points and is now 8
· Speaking on the phone without a hands-free device was 4 and is now 8
· Left turn U turn where prohibited was 0 points and is now 6
· Riding a motorcycle without a helmet was 0 points and is now 6
· Riding without a seatbelt was 2 points and is now 4
· Exiting the vehicle without the required reflective vest was 0 points and is now 2
· Requirement for safe driving course: 12 points
· Requirement for advanced course: 24-35 points within 4 years
· 36 or more points within four years results in automatic suspension of one’s license for three months
