In a City Hall meeting in Elad in the presence of city officials and representatives of the IDF Homefront Command, officials were briefed on the city’s efforts to maintain a level of preparedness in line with the military’s directives.

Area commander IDF Colonel Yair Barkat led the IDF contingent. The colonel praised the city’s security officer and his team, highlighting the importance of being prepared, as was recently seen during Operation Pillar of Defense. The commander gave Mayor Rabbi Yitzchak Edan a commitment to work towards completing the paving of the circular security road that runs around Elad; to assist in obtaining funding to establish an emergency operations command center; assistance in funding security vehicles and training for first-response and security personnel.

Colonel Barkat stated that Elad is among the leaders in preparedness he praised the mayor and his staff for taking these issues as seriously as they do.
