WATCH: Israeli School Children Successfully Flee Burning Bus In Negev


On Sunday afternoon, an Israeli school bus carrying children erupted into flames near the Lehavim junction in the Negev. The children were forced to flee the burning vehicle and Baruch Hashem they all successfully escaped and no injuries were reported.

The incident occurred near the Bedouin town of Rahat. The children, ninth graders, were returning home to the town of Lehavim from their regional school in Eshel Hanasi when the engine of the bus began to overheat and eventually went up in flames.

The local news site, Mynet Beersheva, quoted one of the students as saying: “Something must have gone wrong with the bus’ engine on the way home from school to Lehavim. Smoke started to pour out of the back end of the bus when we got to Lehavim Junction. They told us to get off the bus immediately, before the fire spread.”

Firefighters and rescue teams from United Hatzalah and Magen David Adom were dispatched to the scene of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.

  1. I was surprised to see that most of the motorists did not stop to offer help. Thank G-d they didn’t run over the girls. It was a close call. You can clearly see how some of the drivers did not slow down as the girls were running off the bus. Baruch HaShem they didn’t get hit.
