State Working Overtime on Lieberman Indictment

After taking part in the Jerusalem Convention Center campaign launch, Avigdor Lieberman traveled to Lod to meet with police investigators who questioned him ‘under warning’ for 30 minutes regarding the ongoing investigation into the appointment of Ambassador Ze’ev Ben-Aryeh. The investigation and likely indictment compelled Lieberman, who heads the Yisrael Beitenu Party, to step down as foreign minister pending the outcome of the case.

When a suspect is questioned ‘under warning’ it generally signals the evidence gathered by police is significant and a criminal indictment in the case is likely.

Lieberman in his remarks following his resignation referred to the case against him as a politically motivated witch hunt, promising supporters he would be back in his senior post soon. Former Ambassador Ze’ev Ben-Aryeh, pleaded guilty in a plea bargain agreement in 2012 and he was sentenced to four months of community service.
