Authorities have determined that what was believed to have been a botched vehicular ramming attack on Tuesday morning, 18 Nissan, was a criminal incident.

It was reported later in the day that the suspected terrorist was a car thief who appears to have lost control of the stolen vehicle and crashed into a hitchhiking post. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning on Route 5, near Ariel in Shomron.

When security personnel realized what was taking place, they fired at the suspect who died of his wounds a short time later.

The incident has been ruled a criminal act, not terrorism.
