The deadline for Superstorm Sandy survivors in 13 designated New York counties to register for Federal Emergency Management Agency disaster assistance has been extended to Jan. 28, 2013.
FEMA says the extension is for residents living in New York City and in the counties of Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster.
Federal aid includes money for rental assistance, essential home repairs, personal property losses and other serious disaster-related needs not covered by insurance.
Individuals can register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362 or 800-462-7585.
