The UN international force along the border is reportedly being increased amid reports the rebel forces are now in control of the border to northern Israel. UN commanders fear additional instances of gunfire “leaking across the border” to Israel, which may lead to a response and eventually, cross-border fighting. In the interim, there are no official reports of stepped-up IDF deployment along the border to Syria.
Western nations are watching with growing concern following a NBC News report that Syria has loaded precursor chemicals towards activating saran nerve gas bombs.
