3. B’H BP and flatbush etc have a successful SHOMRIM in place. The SAD news is that here in Lakewood, the newly formed LCSW (lkwd civilian safety watch) is NON existent!! I have been out in all neighborhoods looking for them… no sign. I even filed an application 3 months ago – no response.

   I volunteer on the Lakewood Civilian Safety Watch, and let me tell you, we are out there -altough we are keeping it low key for now for certain reasons… we will be getting bigger and more high-profile in the near future.

   Friday nights in particular, we have gentile members of the community patrolling very heavily for the communities safety.

   Many yidden have also benefitted from using them as shabbos goyim as well.

   We have assisted the community in many situations including blackouts, etc.

   Regarding your application, perhaps it wasnt recieved. Send it in again… and they WILL contact you.

   I havent seen any of their patrols anywhere.

   I sent in an application 4-5 months ago with no response. I called many times regarding this without any result. If there is some reason they dont contact applicants than why advertise all over looking for volunteers. If the only purpose of the LCSW is to get their pictures in the weeklies I dont think that is what the rabbonim had in mind when they backed them.

    Of course, its always easy to bad mouth, but why ?

    A dedicated group of “Volunteers” that are not mechuyev to you, yet they still give of their precious time and money for you and the community, regardless of your “application status” with them. I still think its disgusting to trash any individual or organization when they are on a “Volunteer” basis. Be appreciative rather and be thankful,

    Did you ever hear of the phrase “If you don’t know – don’t talk “ .Maybe they are having issues. Whether its with the lack of motivation of the community members to volunteer. Or maybe issues with the local authorities or township.

    Well, until you know the inside scoop I think its rude of you to open your mouth on a group of people who are out to do good regardless of the benefits that come along with it (for example: Pictures in the papers in which case, is well deserved).

    Therefore, it stands to reason that your ranting and raving against the patrol is just jealousy on your part, as there is apparently no other legitimate explanation.

12. Could you people just stop insulting each other? I think it’s great that shomrim is chasing someone, but which person during the chase gives some time to submit the news? Lakewooders, if you don’t see any response, then either push them- call untill they reply. Or take action on your own.
