Nursing School Program For Chareidi Women

A new program for chareidi women is about to get underway, under the auspices of the Jerusalem Welfare & Social Services Division which controls the city’s public health services. The impetus behind the initiative is Rabbi Shlomo Braska (ברסקה), who operates yeshivos that include professional training for chareidim.

The nursing program has been in the works for some time and following the assistance of the Chareidi College and city officials, it appears the first class will soon be a reality.

Not explaining how the candidates will receive adequate training, Braska boasts that instead of the standard four-year program, his program will but cut to two years.

Braska adds that Jerusalem Deputy Mayor Yossi Deutsch played a vital role in launching the program.

  1. A 2 year program, especially if they are weak in basic sciences before starting, makes them into little more than glorified health care aids with no upward tract (somethng similar to American “Licensed practical nurses” as opposed to “Registered nurses”).

  2. HaShem has helped our community solve the parnassah problems by making all sorts of on-line programs available that were never available before. I’m sure the nursing program, and especially its stidents, will make us all proud.
