Dati Leumi Community Excitedly Awaits Graduation of First Shomer Shabbat Female Combat Navigator

Family members of “T” explain that they a bursting with pride and barring any unforeseen events, their daughter will graduate along with the next Israel Air Force pilots and navigators in three weeks, becoming Israel’s first female shomer shabbat combat navigator. In this case, for those permitted to attend the graduation, “T” will be easy to spot since she will be the only one in a long khaki skirt instead of pants.

A resident of one of Israel’s religious communities, she started the course two years ago setting out to become the first shomer shabbat female pilot. Due to a malfunction in her plane she was compelled to eject and the landing resulted in a back injury. The treatment and rehab took some time and she missed a considerable amount of work. Upon her return, the commanders decided to reassign her as a combat navigator, the person behind the pilot responsible for firing bombs and operating the plane’s systems.

Yediot Achronot reports T’s father is a farmer, a former member of Sayeret Golani, one who works in his community to persuade young eligible draft age teens to join elite units. Her mother holds a senior position in an IDF prepatory program for females. She has one older and two younger brothers.

  1. What a great accomplishment, the Chazon Ish z”l and all other gedolim of the previous generation Paskend that “Giyus Bonus” is “b’Yehereg v’Al Yavor” let her better be “mechallel shabbos” and Not serve IDF

  2. This must be some sort of sad joke. What’s next? The first “shomer shabbos” female construction crew foreman or automobile mechanic?

This is something we should all be mortified about.

  3. To “simon01” / “farrocks” / “Loyal Jew” / and anyone else with similar comments:

I would like you to print off a copy of this article, including all of the comments below it. Please take it and personally show it to any of the current “gedolim” and ask them what they have to say about your comments, the article and the fact that you were reading this site & spent your time writing these comments instead of learning or davening… or anything else, for that matter.

Oh, and while you’re there, please ask them how they feel the Chazon Ish and other gedolim of the previous generation would have answered your current question to them.
Please let us all know how it goes.

  4. Hey farrocks, whats next…. women driving…. women teaching….women forming forming tehillim groups after sundown??? Learn to appreciate the value of women in society.

  5. Care free, the gedolim are right now fighting desperately to keep boys out of the treif army on grounds of shmad. Decades ago they ruled that others who are not boys should rather die than join. As for keeping mitzvos (no. 8), maybe this combat navigator can do so to the satisfaction of RZs, but for Torah Jews it’s toyvel vesherets beyado.
