Even as preparations for the levaya of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach ZT”L were being made, the question being asked by many of his followers is who will replace the Torah giant and become the leader of the “Bnei Torah party”, which he established and led. There is even speculation that the petira of HaRav Auerbach will bring an end to the split between Degel Hatorah and the Peleg Yerushalmi.
That question was addressed on page two of the Sunday morning 10 Adar edition of HaPeles, the party’s newspaper. There, twelve rabbonim have affixed their names to the petira notice, which includes their commitment to continue the derech which was begun by Rav Shmuel Auerbach.
It is reported the niftar did not leave any instructions regarding the continued leadership, and while there is much talk and speculation, the latter is just that and nothing more.
The assumption is made that one of these 12 will step into the leadership position to fill the void created by the sudden petira of HaGaon HaRav Shmuel Auerbach ZT”L.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of people who believe that the more extreme you are, the more religious you are.
What we need are leaders who will bring us together again despite our differences….
