Rav Karelitz Shlita Takes Part in Icud Pulse Oximeter Ceremony

Tens of pulse-oximeter units were distributed to responders affiliated with Ichud Hatzalah (United Hatzalah) in Bnei Brak in the presence of Av Beis Din HaGaon HaRav Nissim Karelitz Shlita.

Thirty units were given out to the city’s volunteers towards increasing their diagnostic abilities of patients in the field.

Ichud officials report the av beis din is a leading rov overseeing the activities of the organization and they asked if he would take part in the modest ceremony towards obtaining his bracha since he is aware of the life-saving organization’s day-to-day activities.

Rav Karelitz also gave his warm bracha to the generous donor who purchased the units, praising their investment towards assisting life saving activities.

  1. For those, like myself, that didn’t know what a pulse oximeter is here is what I pulled off the web.

A pulse oximeter is a medical device that indirectly monitors the oxygen saturation of a patient’s blood (as opposed to measuring oxygen saturation directly through a blood sample) and changes in blood volume in the skin, producing a photoplethysmogram. The pulse oximeter may be incorporated into a multiparameter patient monitor. Most monitors also display the pulse rate. Portable, battery-operated pulse oximeters are also available for transport or home blood-oxygen monitoring.
