Following Operation Pillar of Defense the French Consulate in Jerusalem invited many guests to attend a ceremony between Ile de France Region which includes Paris and the PA (Palestinian Authority). Among the invited guests was none other than Salach Hamouri, the PFLP terrorist who plotted to murder Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita.
If not for the terrorist past of this particular guest at the event, it is highly unlikely that the signing of the twinning agreement would have been newsworthy.
Maariv reports that Hamouri was among the honored guests despite his conviction of being a member of the Popular Front terrorist organization and his plot to murder the gadol hador. He was released with the many heinous terrorists who found their freedom as a result of the Shalit deal, having served seven years of his prison term.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Yigal Palmer questioned the judgment of inviting such an individual to an official event, questioning the motive for the invitation as well as the moral world of those who made the decision to invite him.
In the meantime, Maariv adds that Hamouri has filed a one million NIS libel suit against Arutz-7 after the latter published a quote released in a Reuters report following Hamouri’s release in the Shalit deal, in which Arutz-7 quotes the convicted terrorist as saying “Rabbi Ovadia deserves to die.” In his lawsuit, Hamouri denies ever saying that to Reuters during the interview and accuses Arutz-7 of “tarnishing his good name”.
Mediation between Hamouri and Arutz-7 began last week with the assistance of the Bar Association in Jerusalem, Maariv concludes.

What a chutzpah of hamouri! Should be called hamor (donkey!)
What’s to say?…he wanted to murder Gadol hador. If he didn’t think he deserves to die, chas veshalom, he wouldn’t be convicted!
