Police & IDF Investigating Predawn Fatal Shooting Incident

A woman was stabbed and lightly injured on Monday morning when an intruder entered a home in Sdei Avraham in the Eshkol Regional Council district of southern Israel, close to the Gaza border. The intruder/terrorist was shot dead by an IDF soldier as he was fleeing the scene. Police believe the man was an intruder while military officials explain the intruder was feared to have been a terrorist. The dead man was not carrying identification, and at the time of this report it is unknown if he infiltrated from Gaza or Sinai.

The man entered during the predawn hours and injured the victim in her shoulder and face. He then fled as she began screaming. Soldiers operated in line with protocol, and when the man failed to halt he was shot dead. One must remember this took place in proximity to the Gaza border.

Both Israel Police and the IDF are now investigating the fatal shooting to establish if the use of deadly force by a soldier was justifiable.
