Twenty-one suspected members of a self-styled “gang of barbarians” will be tried in France for the anti-Semitic kidnapping and murder of 23-year-old Ilan Halimi HYD in 2006, Reuters reports. Another seven suspects face trial for failing to report a crime, while one will be tried in a court for children because she was under 16 at the time of the attack.
The kidnappers sent ransom demands to his family but did not arrive at several meetings to collect the ransom money. He was later found naked, tortured and covered in burns near Paris in February 2006 after being held captive for three weeks. He died of his wounds shortly after.
The grisly anti-Semitic crime shocked France and its 600,000-strong Jewish community. On 26 February 2006, tens of thousands of people protesting racism and anti-Semitism held marches in France in memory of Ilan Halimi. After initial reluctance, French authorities had said they believed anti-Semitism was behind the gang’s motives.
Ilan Halimi HYD was eventually reburied in Yerushalayim a year after being buried in France [reported HERE on YWN].

My imagination is inadequate to even in my wildest dreams come up with a drastic enough punishment for these animals. We can only take comfort in the fact that they will receive what they deserve in gehinom.
I wouldn’t bet on the community service, sammygol, but the rest sounds pretty likely! Vive le France! Next rendezvous when moshiach comes!
