There is NO rational reason why anyone should ever drink to excess (defined as more than they would ordinarily drink) on Purim any more than any other yom tov

If you want to give svaros why people shouldn’t drink, go ahead – I might even agree with you. But don’t try and pretend that halachos don’t exist.
