United Hatzalah volunteers from the Jerusalem district on Sunday morning, 3 Adar, responded to a call for a 9-month-old choking. EMT Yechiel Gurfein was among the first on the scene, confirming upon his arrival, the boy was indeed choking on the foreign object that was lodged in his airway. He was also bleeding from his throat as a result of the battery being lodged.
He received instructions from the United Hatzalah dispatcher and B’chasdei Hashem, he succeeded in dislodging the coin, and the child was once again breathing spontaneously. The child was transported to a local hospital for follow-up.

The Hatzola volunteer needed instructions from the dispatcher on what to do ??!
b”H he didn’t swallow it. Batteries are highly toxic and often unfortunately kill before anyone knows the kid swallowed it.
