With the ceasefire in place it is our fervent hope that the quiet seen in Israel during recent hours will continue.
As such, YWN closes the live blog and places “Operation Pillar of Defense” in our archives, hoping there will not be a need to reactivate it at a later date.
YWN thanks our dedicated team of veteran reporters around the world who worked 24 hours a day throughout the war, to ensure that our readers would have the latest, and most comprehensive news available.
YWN published well over 1000 news updates during the war, and traffic to YWN soared to record numbers – with the site viewed more than three million times.
Our first report was published just moments after the IDF launched Operation Pillar of Defense, on Wednesday, Nov 14 2012 at at 4:11PM IL.
Following rocket attacks into southern Israel earlier in the afternoon, the Israel Air Force had launched a targeted surgical strike against a vehicle traveling in Gaza City. Eliminated in the strike was Ahmed Jabari, Hamas’ military chief of staff, the head of the terror organization’s military wing. The IDF announced “Operation Pillar of Defense” a short time later.
The war ended with a ceasefire on Wednesday, Nov 21 2012 at at 9:00PM IL.
With sincerest tefilos for a peaceful Shabbos in Eretz Yisrael.

Thank you so much for your prompt and informative updates. Living in Israel, it is very hard to understand the radio as they talk rapidly in Hebrew, and to not always present accurate information. We really appreciated having YW to turn to for the current events as they were occuring. Thank you again.
By providing minute by minute reporting, YWN allowed Yidden evrywhere to feel a powerful kesher with our brethren. I believe , in turn, this gave extra chizuk and kavannah to our tefillos.
It was really from the best reporting out there with minute by minute updates.
For thew future if you can start a YWN twitter account that we dont have to keep checking the website for minutely updates this is also good for those that dont have internet on their phones so they can get it as a Txt.
Thanx for the most awesome reporting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you YWN. A job well done. It was the only place where we got mamesh up to date developments. Let’s hope Klal Yisroel can live Bishalom from here on in, BE”H. Besuros Tovos!

i would like to add i am a proud jew and torahnik
but because i saw first hand what happens in eretz yisroel i had no other alternative but to get involved
and then i began to hear new ideas from jews and in torah what can happen. from the sometimes “wet” ground up!

Thank you YWN for the coverage!
Excellent comprehensive coverage. I downloaded YWN’s app for Android and stayed up to date on the events of the war. I will use the app again if anything else happens, but hopefully all is well for a long time to come. Seek God and be blessed Israel. We love you.
YWN, we owe you much hakoras hatov for the TERRIFIC reporting throughout this war. I was glued to F5 during these 9 days, and your site certainly added to my kavana in davening.
