A shooting has been reported on the Northern Illinois University campus in DeKalb, Ill. A local hospital tells CNN affiliate CLTV that it expects to receive 15 patients and have so far treated at least two.
The University ordered its student body to seek shelter and canceled classes Thursday.
The DeKalb campus Web site confirmed the shooting and wrote the following statement: “Its has been confirmed that there has been a shooting on campus and several people have been taken away by ambulance,” the school said. “All classes are canceled on the DeKalb campus and people are urged not to come to campus.”
According to CBS2, the suspect killed himself and officials say the danger has passed.
A viewer who e-mailed CBS2 said that her brother was in the lecture hall where the shooting happened. “He says that the gunmen was a white male dressed in all black. He kicked the door in and opened fire.”

Exactly, the NRA is fighting for our second amendment rights to carry arms. Hey this nut case (probably a muslim, but we don’t know) had time to reload and start another shooting spree. When I was an undergraduate at Rutgers I had a 357 and any lunatics come in blazing us down like Clint Eastwood in Dirty Harry was going to get shot…Period. I feel very safe with my side arm.
