Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri announced he will continue enforcing the law compelling Shabbos closure of businesses in the city. Lasri’s statement coincides with ongoing tenacious efforts by the Yisrael Beitenu party and its leader, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, as Lieberman is encouraging businesses to defy the law and remain open on Shabbos.
Just last Shabbos, using his official vehicle and accompanied by staff members, Lieberman made a semi-official visit to Ashdod, on Shabbos, to “give chizuk” to stores operating on Shabbos R”L.
Yisrael Beitenu MK Yulia Malinovsky however is not remaining passive, as she is calling on Ashdod residents to take to the streets and protest against Mayor Lasri, who insists on complying with the law, which cites stores cannot operate on Shabbos. She is calling on residents to protest this coming Shabbos, to send a clear message to the mayor.

I guess all of Israel’s security problems are solved, so that the defense minister has time for matters unrelated to his job — like battling against Shabbos.
Interesting — these politicians, ministers in government, by the way, will have people arrested for not complying with the law of reporting for army registration, but will actively — not passively — advocate DEFYING the law of keeping business closed on Shabbos.
As long as we have OUR own SO CALLED YIDDISHE MEDINAH, by the way i’m looking forward to the TINOKOS SHENISHBU, KIRUV, etc. preachers & commentators,
