A new Jerusalem home was destroyed in a fire that fire marshals determined was caused by improper use of a heater.
Firefighters on Sunday, 5 Shevat, responded to a blaze in the Armon HaNatziv neighborhood, on the fourth floor of an apartment building. B’chasdei Hashem there were no injuries and firemen were able to prevent the fire from spreading to other homes.
Family members came to finish setting up the home, with many new items still in original packaging. A kerosene heater was turned on near a sofa, and cartons left in the apartment ignited and the fire spread quickly. Acrid smoke quickly filled the apartment, which was completely destroyed.

heaters are dangerous and must be used with utmost caution.
the best are the airconditioner/heaters that are mounted on the wall. they are the fastest for heating and pose little if any danger.
Kerosene heaters are the most dangerous both from a fire danger but also from inhalation problem.
