An IDF soldier was lightly to moderately wounded tonight after an Arab terror operative stabbed him in the neck at a checkpoint near Aja, south of Jenin. Artillery Corps forces manning the checkpoint restrained the operative, arrested him and transferred him to security forces for questioning. The wounded soldier was evacuated from the scene to a hospital to receive further medical treatment.

In the past while, many knife attacks have been thwarted in the Judea and Samaria region. During the last incident, which occurred last week, Border Police forces, stationed near Kever Rochel in Chevron, uncovered a 24cm long knife on an Arab. In the first stage of questioning the Palestinian stated that his plan was to attack the soldiers, and that he was sent on behalf of Islamic Jihad.
